DESCRIPTION:The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War\, Department of Nebraska\, Shiloh No. 2 will conduct a ceremony honoring Jeremiah Wilhelm\, the Last Union Civil War Soldier buried in Saline County\, Nebraska. The ceremony will be held at Dorchester Cemetery\, near Dorchester. \nJeremiah Wilhelm was a Private in Co. A\, 3rd Maryland Infantry and died June 11\, 1942 at the age of 97. \nDirections: Dorchester Cemetery is located on the Northeast side of town\, north of Highway 33\, 1 1/2 miles on County Rd 1500. View Google coordinates. \nThe Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War\, Dept. of Nebraska have started the final phase in our Last Soldier Project. The purpose of the project is to locate and appropriately mark the final resting place of the last Union Civil War Soldier buried in each county in the state of Nebraska.
