DESCRIPTION:The Department of Nebraska will hold its Department Encampment at the Mormon Trail Center at Historic Winter Quarters in Omaha Nebraska on April 14\, 2018.\nThe encampment is hosted by Victor Vifquain Camp No.1. Eugene Mortorff\, National Assistant Executive Director will be our guest and representative from the National Organization\, SUVCW. \nThe Memorial Service will begin at 9:30 AM with the regular meeting beginning at 10:00 AM. We will break for lunch around noon at Harold’s Cafe. \nAfternoon activities include a group photo at the gravesite of Carlisle Casiday (Co. B\, 28th IA Infantry) in the Mormon Cemetery adjoining the center. This is the only Civil War veteran buried in the cemetery. \nFollowing that we will have an awards ceremony and program with guest speaker\, Col. Dwight Lydic\, director of the JROTC at Benson High School. The ceremony and program are open to the public. \n  \nBrothers\, please let your Camp secretary know if you planning on attending. DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to a free patriotic concert by the Lincoln Municipal Band the evening of Thursday\, February 8 at Lincoln Southwest High School. The concert is part of the 18th annual Abraham Lincoln Birthday Celebration. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. at the school\, 7001 South 14th Street\, and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. \nThe 33-member Lincoln Municipal Band is Nebraska’s only professional wind ensemble and the State’s oldest professional music organization. Since 1907\, the Band has presented a free summer concert series\, which continue to be the most popular events of the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department’s summer performance series. \n“Lincoln Municipal Band concerts and the Abraham Lincoln Birthday Celebration are great traditions in the Capital City and it’s exciting to combine them for a fun family evening\,” said Mayor Chris Beutler. “I want to thank the sponsors of this event for allowing us to provide this free concert at no expense to the City.” \nMajor support for the event is being provided by Cornhusker Bank\, Nelnet\, Humanities Nebraska and other local individuals\, businesses and organizations. \nActivities before and after the concert will include historical displays\, free birthday cake and live music from Chris Sayre\, who has performed at all 17 previous celebrations. DESCRIPTION:Nebraska Rangers SVR will provide the Color Guard for posting and retiring the colors at the Vietnam Veterans Ceremony after their BBQ. There will also be Civil War exhibits set up indoors by select individuals at the event. \n\nSVR Information: \nThe uniform of the day will be Union Civil War uniform of 4 button sack coat\,forage cap\,sky blue trousers\,brogans or black shoes\,leather accoutrements\, bayonet\, musket\, canteen (full of water)\, haversack if you have one. Please have your musket clean. If you do not have a 4 button sack coat and forage cap or bummer and wear the uniform of your ancestor like Berdan’s Sharpshooter\, cavalry\, artillery\, Navy is acceptible. Also appropriate rank in the Nebraska Rangers\, camp medal\, SVR medal\, unit citation also acceptible on uniform. White gloves and colors will be provided.

DESCRIPTION:Headstone Dedication at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery\, near Talmage\, NE \nThere will be a living history demonstration in the Talmage City Park after the ceremony. \n– \nSVR Rangers\, please be at the cemetery at 9:30 AM \nDirections: \nSt. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery is located at the intersection of S 50th Road & Quail Road\, approximately 1 1/2 miles East of Talmage on Road R and 1/2 mile North on S 50th Road. \nFrom Lincoln: \nTake Hwy 2 to Syracuse\, head south on Hwy 50 to Hwy 128. Turn left on Hwy 128\, go to Road closed sign just west of Lorton\, turn right on gravel road.  Take gravel road south to stop sign\, turn left at stop sign.  Go east on gravel road to river bridge on Hwy 67\, turn left on Hwy 67\, cross river bridge\, turn right on gravel road.  Head east to 1st crossroad going north\, turn left on gravel road and head north\, cemetery is on left hand side of road. \nFrom Omaha: \nGo Nebraska City\, take Hwy 75 south to Hwy 128.
