DESCRIPTION:The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War\, Department of Nebraska\, Shiloh Camp No. 2 will conduct a ceremony honoring Isaac J. West\, the Last Union Civil War Soldier buried in Butler County\, Nebraska. The ceremony will be held at David City Cemetery in David City. \nIsaac J. West was a Private in Co. L\, 9th Iowa Cavalry and died March 22\, 1944 at the age of 96. \n  \nDirections: From Highway 15\, the David City Cemetery is .5 mile west on Road 34 (south of town). \nThe Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War\, Dept. of Nebraska have started the final phase in our Last Soldier Project. The purpose of the project is to locate and appropriately mark the final resting place of the last Union Civil War Soldier buried in each county in the state of Nebraska. We are marking the graves of these veterans with a bronze star marker and QR code medallion. The full list of veterans can be viewed here.

E\, 209th Pennsylvania Infantry and died July 22\, 1941 at the age of 97. \n  \nDirections: Greenwood Cemetery is located at 1000 W 8th St\, York\, NE. \nThe Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War\, Dept. of Nebraska have started the final phase in our Last Soldier Project. The purpose of the project is to locate and appropriately mark the final resting place of the last Union Civil War Soldier buried in each county in the state of Nebraska.
