Last Soldier – Burt Co. Dedication

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Department of Nebraska, Harrison Camp No. 53-2 will conduct a ceremony honoring Isaac L. Wood, the Last Union Civil War Soldier buried in Burt County, Nebraska. The ceremony will be held at Tekamah Cemetery, in Tekamah.

Isaac L. Wood was a Private in Co. G, 179th Ohio Infantry and died September 6, 1944 at the age of 101.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Dept. of Nebraska have started the final phase in our Last Soldier Project. The purpose of the project is to locate and appropriately mark the final resting place of the last Union Civil War Soldier buried in each county in the state of Nebraska.
